Nepal readies for World Culture Festival

KATHMANDU: Celebrating The Art of Living’s 35 years of service to humanity, spirituality and human values, World Culture Festival (WCF) is being held in New Delhi, India from March 11 to 13. Nepal will also take part in this mega festivity of cultural diversity celebration and meditation.

A press meet was organised by The Art of Living — Nepal on February 25 at Nepal Tourism Board to announce Nepal’s participation in the festival.

On Nepal’s participation, Santosh Sharma, Chairman of The Art of Living — Nepal informed, “The festival will

witness 35,00,000 people and about 38,000 artistes will perform there. About 140 artistes from Nepal will perform the music and dances — shebru, chandi, kauraha, dhimey, and jhagad — that represent Mountains, Hills, Valley and Tarai of the country.”

Showcasing diverse cultures of Nepal, which co-exist with each other, in the theme of ‘Harmony in Diversity’, the professionals and non-professionals who have been training for one-and-a-half month will perform the medley in about five minutes.

Moreover, “anyone can be a part of this event (as an audience). Everyone from Nepal is invited. It is a free entry for Nepalis,” as per Sharma.

Swami Paramtej, Senior Faculty of The Art of Living put further light on their festival. He termed it as “Cultural Olympics. Cultures from 155 countries will participate. A total of 38,943 artistes will perform in one stage which has not happened before.”
