Our own Universal idol

The most popular question on everyone’s lips these days is — “Who will be the next Indian Idol — Prashant or Amit?”

It is being asked not only in India and Nepal, but also around the world. And hats off to Prashant Tamang of Darjeeling for unifying all people of Nepali origin around the world through his voice.

And while the Indian Idol debate is going on, we have already crowned our Universal Idol. The month-long competition ended on September 13 — Children’s Day, and surprisingly even our Universal Idol’s name starts with ‘Pra’. He is Prakash Lama — an eighth grader of our school. We hope he will be Prashant 2 in the future.

The competition started with 72 participants out of which 20 were chosen, then the Top 10 were shortlisted and finally six received the maximum votes to make it to the finals. The Top Six looked absolutely gorgeous in the cultural attire and the stage was beautifully decorated. Prakash gave a stunning performance. And the four judges chose him as the ‘Universal Idol’.
