Paltrow in a bid to lose weight

LONDON: Gwyneth Paltrow has turned to a leading cardiologist and detoxification expert in a bid to lose weight she gained during a "relax and enjoy life phase" of her life.

The health-conscious actress, who is married to rocker Chris Martin, has revealed she has almost completed an "amazing" three-week-long detox program in her online goop.com newsletter.

The 36 year old writes, "I feel pure and happy and much lighter... I dropped the extra pounds that I had gained during a majorly (sic) fun and delicious 'relax and enjoy life phase' about a month ago."

And she wasn't taking any health risks - she turned to detox specialist Dr. Alejandro Junger for advice.

His Clean detox involves a 100 per cent organic diet mixed with sauna sessions, massages and hot and cold baths.

Paltrow swears by Dr. Junger's program, stating, "(It) allowed me to work and exercise regularly, something I cannot do if I am on a liquid-only detox. I followed it to the letter and I can report that it worked wonders."

The actress has long been associated with body-improving diets and techniques and has been a poster girl for macrobiotic food and cupping in the past.
