Paul McCartney to write children’s book

Paul McCartney is the latest to join the swollen ranks of celebrity authors of children’s books. Taking a figurative page from the lives of Madonna, Jamie Lee Curtis, Billy Crystal, Bill Cosby, LeAnn Rimes, Jerry Seinfeld and Maria Shriver, to name only a few, McCartney, who has five children by his two marriages, has signed to publish “High in the Clouds: An Urban Furry Tail,” for the Penguin Young Readers Group. The book, inspired by an animated film, ‘Tropic Island Hum’, will be a collaboration among the former Beatle, children’s book author Philip Ardagh and animator Geoff Dunbar in telling the story of a squirrel and a frog, friends who come to the rescue of a number of animals. The picture book is to be published in October with a first printing of 5,00,000 copies. — AP
