Penn gets homesick at sets

LONDON:

Oscar winning actor Sean Penn is eager to leave the acting business because he doesn’t enjoy the process and gets bored and homesick on sets. Penn gets excited when he signs up for a new movie and is able to sustain it for the first few weeks but soon he finds it unbearable to be alone in a motel room missing his family, reports contactmusic.com.

The actor now wants to turn his attention to directing. Penn said, “Filmmaking is more interesting to me than acting. With acting, I’ve gone from a love-hate relationship to a dark, bitter hatred. You might be fascinated with the material, you get three weeks into it and you’re like, ‘I’m trapped here’. That drives me out of my mind.

“I’ll sit there and it’ll be one of those cottage-cheese white ceilings in a motel somewhere, my family’s thousands of miles away and I’m thinking, ‘What am I doing here?’”
