PEOPLESPEAK: Love’s a many splendoured thing

Love is the only power that can unite the world. Love is a passion that can heal all human woes. Love is integral to our lives and can be expressed in myriad ways.

— Ram Pun

Love comes in myriad forms. It could be magical and exhilarating, painful and at times almost debilitating. While most of us contend that nothing is more magical and loftier than the power of love, we have often been the unwilling victims of wrong interpretations. Poets, philosophers, prophets, parents and teenagers have all made their attempts at unravelling the mystery of love, though none of them satisfies the diversity that it’s encountered in. Perhaps, Scott Peck comes closest to its meaning in The Road Less Travelled: “The will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth.”

— Neha Dubey

Love simply means a strong liking or affection for anyone that might well extend from an individual to the entire humanity. But the most important thing to be considered is that nothing is expected out of it. It’s about giving everything and expecting nothing in return. It’s also the source of eternal memories to cherish that remains even when you cease to exist.

— Suzee

Love is an unfathomable ocean where we drown stupidly without caring to know if we’d ever reach a harbour. Love is devilishly selfish that sacrifices everything for the one you love, at the cost of the rest. It’s more or less a business, where we trade our love to get more of it in return.

— Cup_ill

Love is an abstraction that is often the source of inspiration and makes life worth living. Love is an energy that gives us the reason to live and instil peace even in the most troubled of times.

— Dhruba

Love is the spirit that brings harmony into life and helps one be one with the nature. Love is the only feeling that makes the world seem beautiful and is the remedy for all the human vices. Life is incomplete without love. Love is the strength in times of crisis and the best panacea for most of the human woes.

— Pratik Chauhan

Love is a gentle emotion of hearts. It is the force of attraction, which binds the relations between inner souls. It is something that rewards you with much more than you actually give. Truth, sacrifice and commitment make it worthwhile.

— Rakesh Budhathoki (Romeo)

We long to find that person who’d share the beautiful full moon nights making the vows of living together, till death do us part. Love is a beautiful feeling that God permits us to dwell in. Love is that mysterious bond that makes relationships stronger. Love indeed, is a blessing. Sydney Smith once expressed, “To love and to be loved, is the greatest happiness of existence.” Love isn’t a mere feeling, it’s a powerful thought that characterises a person and gives enough reason to smile.

— Niema

Love is the supreme of all human emotions. Mutual trust is the foundation of love while overly dominant feelings of possessiveness taints it unpleasant. It has to be pure and selfless. And you are the luckiest person if you have such a love from someone whom you love.

— Suraj Khatri

Whenever there is a visual or physical interaction between two individual of opposite sexes, a kind of eternal current is produced which is directly proportional to the number of total sights and the time consumed by the individual during the course of interaction. This entire process is known as love.

— Prabhat

Love is an emotion, a strong liking that can well extend to the level of devotion. You give the highest importance and desperate all the while to be close to that person. When you love somebody, you respect and care that person to the extent that even their blemishes seem inconsequential. You spend hours and hours thinking about what the person really feels about you and you start daydreaming and imagining beautiful things. Of course, there are times when a little indifference from your partner makes you incredibly jealous.

— Natasha

Love shouldn’t be relegated to mere linguistic tools. It is one of those precious gifts of life without which life wouldn’t be worth living. Love is something to be felt and relished.

— Pratikshya Khanal

Love is a fountain of joy and at the same time an ocean of tears. It’s a language that lovers speak and a vision that others can’t see. The ecstasy of being in love is, perhaps the highest level of happiness that human beings experience. It’s a precious gift of god and it’s mystery better unravelled.

— Prakrity

Like a rose so precious and rare is the love two hearts share. It’s a combination of two hearts from two separate worlds. Its a single breath respired by two hearts, its a shadow of two hearts and a touch of the feelings for each other. But sometimes sweet deceit comes calling in which two hearts part.

— Bikesh Dongol

Love is that relationship, that bond which is meant to be shared with mutual faith, understanding, care and unconditional respect for each other.

— Jeetu

Love is a feeling, which enables us to think positively. For me love is the beacon of hope when all else holds no promise.

— Anish Shah

Love means the warmth of the sun, the aroma of a rose, the breeze of the sea. But the meaning is never the same for all. Love acquires its true meaning by experiencing it and only then can you define it.

— Bijaya Parajulee

It is a passion and promise between two individuals to share their future, to love and to be loved.

— Niranjan Khanal

People say love is life and it is what makes life beautiful. Love is the bond that binds disparate individuals. But as it makes us laugh, it’s equally hurting at times. In short it is an alluring sweet sorrow and a sweet little pain.

— Suzzani

Love is not the heart of life but just a part of life. For me love is neither craze nor madness. It is a sweet feeling that make life a bliss. Love is universal and is built on the foundation of commitment and sacrifice.

— Aubhaya Basnyat

Love is a strong selfless admiration for someone that reaches well beyond just the level of teenybopper romance. Life without love is meaningless. Love levels all inequalities and is an invaluable gift from God.

— Bishal KC

Love is like flower which blooms no matter where and under even the harshest of conditions. And it never blooms for anyone special but embraces everyone in its universal fragrance. It makes the world beautiful.

— Chhaya Upreti

Actually love is the highest level of bliss. Love happens when you devote yourself to the subject without expecting anything in return. Love is an accident that happens without a premonition.

— Bikram Lama

Love is the god-gifted flower of life that blossoms eternally. Love is the beginning of life. Love is the relationship between hearts that binds each other and makes one ascertain life’s worth. Love is the foundation of each and every relationship and is the language that every heart speaks, the answer to the question that every heart seeks.

— Manita Thapa

A life without love is a day without sun. Life without love is an ocean empty of water. To love means to care, to protect, to pray for and to make sure that the person loved is happy.

— Maya Shrestha

Love is a bird that cannot be encaged. When an individual is betrayed, love becomes noxious, but if reciprocated stands as a garden of joy. So in my view love is a beacon of hope and also the highway to hell.

— Bibek Jha

There are moments in life when you love someone so much that you just want to pick them up from your dreams and hug them for real. I think love is this wonderful feeling, which makes our world go round. Everyone falls in love with that special someone, someday, somehow. You fall in love and that is the most beautiful thing that can ever happen to you. Love hurts but it is living a heaven to have tasted even if just once.

— Anukritika Prasai

In my view, it’s amity closer than any other. It’s a spontaneous expression of two hearts. It’s the harmony between two spirits. If thoughts and feelings be the wheels of love, nderstanding is what steers it in the right direction.

— Amardip Shrestha

Love itself is so sweet that it does not need any definition. Love is like a rainbow between two hearts, which makes life seem colourful and hence beautiful.

Love is the happiest, saddest, nicest and the most awful state to be in. Love can do wonders. Love and suffering go together. Love is an ocean of emotions.

— Sarah Pradhan

Love is the only word that gives strength to live. Love bring joy and pain, and in both ways we just love to live in love for that one angel touch makes the world seem beautiful.

— Anuska

Love for me is a true friendship between two souls. Unless they are true friends, they can’t be true lovers. In fact love is an amalgamation of trust, affection and care for each other. A real friend or true lover never steps back when you are in peril.

— Smriti Thapa

Love is an attraction between two bodies and souls. Love is a sacrifice, which sublimates in a state of divine bliss.

— Pabitra

Unlike parental love, love between youngsters is lascivious, ephemeral and an output of libido. To fall in love means to dig one’s pitfall and begin tragic journey full of pseudo surmise. In my opinion life is incomplete till you fall in love and it is over once you experience it.

— Narayan Sangam

Love is about feeling happy and secure with the person you are with. Love is something that can make you laugh or cry without any sane reason. Love is not about finding the perfect soul mate but cleansing an imperfect soul.

— Roxy

Love is a colourful mixture of commitment, trust, understanding, patience and caring that forms a beautiful bridge between two hearts. It is like a circle, which has no beginning and no ending. It keeps going round and round, ever expanding, engulfing those involved like the morning mist, warming them like the noontime sun and covering them like a blanket of evening stars. “Love is not simply gazing and admiring each other, but looking together in the same direction”, said French novelist Antoine de Saint. You don’t choose love, love chooses you…All you can really do is accept it for all its mystery when it comes into your life.

— Shrinkhala Bhattarai

Love is a sublime gift that blossoms in various colours and enchanting fragrances. It is unconditional and inexhaustible. However, we often mess up the whole idea, as a commodity that’s traded in for something in return. Being a lover means more than just being able to love somebody you’re fascinated to. The first step on the ladder of being an ideal lover is being able to love yourself.

— Deepti Shrestha

Love is not what you see, it is what you feel and admire from your heart. It is a strong feeling of affection towards a special person in your life. Love is an intimate relation in which you give and sacrifice without wanting anything in return.

— Rojal Baidya
