Poesy

Another new day

If you’ve done what

you could

Then don’t mind some

Try to forget them

Cause tomorrow is

a new day.

You should start it with happiness

You should forget

your sorrows

Only remember tomorrow

And try to make it

worthwhile.

— Bijjaka Ghimire, Class IX, Arunima Higher Secondary School

The martyr

When people were uneducated

My brother gave them knowledge

When dictatorial system was made

My brother destroyed that gate.

When fundamental rights were violated

My brother became a prisoner

When a mass of people united

Dictatorship ended forever.

When democracy

Was restored in the

country

My brother was

Declared as a Martyr.

— Surya Karki, Class X, Little Angel’s School

Fruits of my labour

My success is due to my hard labour

I desire to be awarded with pride and honour

No one was with me, but God helped me

I am thankful to God for giving me this golden key

The key may open wonderful days

I hope this success will show me many ways

Success makes me independent

— Sonu Panta, Class IX, Deepika English School

Man versus Nature

Humans are nature’s pride

Progressing with long strides

We were born to be notable

We’ve done works that are remarkable.

Science and technology are our target

Inventions, discoveries that we can’t forget

We’ve tried to make earth a place of luxury

But this has made nature burn with fury.

Tsunami and landslides are its revenge

We should try to stop making nature a circus

Where buildings are grown instead of trees

And other animals are kept from comfort and ease.

— Shreya Jha, Class IX, The Imperial Academy

Fairy dream

Once a beautiful angel

Cane looking for me

She was fair and white like snow

Oh! What a beauty to behold.

Just like queen of pearl

I looked into her blue eyes

She started whispering in my ear

Trying to come near without any fear.

But some sound struck my ear

I woke up in my bed

It was my mama’s scream

Ah! It was just a dream.

— Amrit Raj Shrestha, Class X, Glen Buds School
