Poesy

Beautiful and bountiful:

Nature is so rich and sweet

It gives us all things we eat.

Nature is a God-made thing

In which we can sit and sing.

Nature is not only for us

It is for all living things on earth.

Nature is a very precious pot

We should not waste it a lot.

Nature gives us light to shine

Which makes us well and fine.

God provided us beautiful nature

With a lot of fun in our future.

— Shreya Singh, Class VI, Penwood Academy School, Kathmandu

My world:

The world I live in

Is full of love and care

Each step I take has

Struggle and departure too.

I live in Nepal

A country known for peace

I had wondered where the

Peace I searched for was.

Because of greed

There was a war

I prayed to God to

Make my land peaceful again.

— Utsavh Pradhan, Class VI, GEMS, Lalitpur

Disastrous fever:

It was a dark, dark night

And I just couldn’t sleep tight

Didn’t know what to do

Nor had I a single clue

Then I realised that

Somehow my nose was paralysed

I was feeling dull and sad

Because the disastrous fever was so bad

I couldn’t smell nor was I fit

All I did was sleep and sit

Everything was a mess

Fit is what I wanted to be

I wasn’t allowed to go out

Cause later I’d sneeze

so loud

Medicine is what I had

after food

Thank God! It was

effective and good

That night I had a

peculiar dream

I was in the land

of ice-cream

Perhaps I am going to

be fit again

And get to play in rain

with friends.

— Dolkar Lhamo, Class X, Srongtsen Bhrikuti B.H. School, Kathmandu

Thanks:

Feeling shy I had once sat aside

Till someone held my hand

With fear I raised my head

Only to find myself with Teachers, The Great

I was in the darkness sitting all alone

When they advised me to come and join

I stood up and took a

deep breath

And there in smiles

I was wreathe.

A little candle inside

me was lit

And this was when I stopped giving up

I still remember their

encouraging words

When my eyes opened

to see the world.

My teachers I’d like

to thank

If you were not there I would have sunk

Today I’ve learnt to walk

on my own

I will always follow the

path you’ve shown.

There are things you hope for me I can do it, just bless me and see

All that I can give you

today is a promise

To never ever let you

down, I promise.

— Sanjog Bikram KC, SLC, Little Angels’ School, Lalitpur

Exams:

Study with concentration

Study the whole day

There is no play

Study all day long

Eat to be strong

Never resort to cheating

Or you’ll get a beating

Do well

Otherwise you will fail.

— Prakrit Manandhar, Class V, Shuvatara School, Kathmandu

Love and hate:

I love the nature

But hate its cruelty

Like the tsunami

and Katrina

I love human beings

But hate the barbarity

Like World War I and II

I love my school

For it is preparing

me to fight

All those bad things.

— Salina Manandhar, Class VIII, RIBS, Kathmandu

Young Jice:

Have you heard of

young Jice?

He was very nice

Until he had the lice

and was despised.

He was even avoided

by the mice

Poor old Jice

He had to think twice

And get advice

To remove the lice.

He went in disguise

to Mr Advice

"Yes," said Mr Advice

"Get two monkeys

and a piece of thread The monkeys

will take the lice off your head."

Young Jice did

as he was told

And soon he had no lice.

The next day a boy named Tice

Had got the lice.

"Oh no here we go again" said lice-less Jice
