Remembering Bhanu

KATHMANDU:

On the occasion of 194th Bhanu Jayanti a programme was organised at Rato Bangla School on July 13. Students from various schools recited poems by pioneer poet Bhanu Bhakta, while some of the poems recited were written on him by other famous poets. A poetry recitation and essay writing competition was previously organised for students from different schools.

The winners were declared at the programme. Alisha Rai of Pawan Prakriti English School stood first, while Shreeya Thapa from Delight Kindergarten and Rabina Tandukar from Adarsha Vidya Mandir both stood second. The third position was taken by Larisa Dhakal of Adarsha Vidya Mandir.

In the essay writing competition, Anura Shrestha of Little Angels School came first while the consolation prizes were given to Pushpanjali Giri of SOS Herman Gmeiner School and Ayusha Gupta of Triyog High School.

A book translated by Basanta Thapa, Mero Euta Sapna Chha (I have a dream), based on the life of Martin Luther King was also launched.
