Richest young entertainer

LONDON: Singapore-born electric violinist Vanessa-Mae Nicholson is sitting pretty atop the Sunday Times Rich List for 2006 as Britain’s weal-thiest entertainer under the age of 30.

Nicholson, 27, who lives in London and is a new entry on the list, has an estimated fortune of 32 million pounds ($56.9 million), according to the ran-kings to be pu-blished in full this weekend. “Her album sales now clear eight million worldwide, and together with concert revenues, she is worth £32 million — more than enough to indulge her passion for skiing and to pay for the ski lodge she is building in Val d’Isere in the French Alps,” the Sunday Times said in a statement.

In second place was Kiera Chaplin, 23, the granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin. Sharing third place, each with 25 million pounds, were the four members of rock band Coldplay.
