Kathmandu:

Sanyukta Shrestha, a renowned Nepali fashion designer, is going places. The 22-year-old designer’s aim to go international received a major boost recently when she became the first Nepali to participate in the six-month long Designer Workshop organised in London by London College of Fashion (LCF), hobnobbing with 24 other professional designers from Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Jamaica, Italy and the United Kingdom. “I had a great opportunity to learn about different styles in various countries,” says Shrestha. “This has definitely helped me experiment with new creations.” Label branding, maintaining one’s status in the fashion world and designing for mass production were some of the issues that she learnt during her course. Shrestha, who is currently busy as the official fashion designer for Miss Nepal 2004 pageant scheduled for August 7, feels that she is now experimenting the haute couture fusion between the east and the west.
