School bans make-up

A school has banned some of its pupils from wearing make-up because they were being teased for looking orange. Some girls wore so much make-up they were called ‘oompa-loompas’ by older pupils, like the characters in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The head of the school said he didn’t want girls to be teased, so decided to stop younger pupils wearing make-up. And just in case girls do still come in wearing make-up, classrooms will have tissues on hand to clean them up. The vice-principal Coombe-shead College in Devon, Nikki Prin-ce, explained why the make-up ban was brought in. She said: “They plaster loads on. They should be sensible, you don’t need lots of make-up for school. It’s not a beauty contest.”
