SCHOOL TIMES : Exercise for your mind

Reading is to mind what

exercise is to body.

— Thomas Adison

This means that reading is as important to our mind as exercise is to our body.

It sharpens our intellectual quality, builds up character and most

importantly helps develop our personality. It gives

us pleasure, knowledge and wisdom. It also increases our vocabulary and makes us curious about knowing things.

Francis Bacon said, “Reading makes a full man, conference a ready man and writing an exact man.” Following his words, if we want to be a full man, then we should read and enjoy ourselves while doing so.

Reading has several advantages but the most important one is that reading helps in the progress of our personality, upgrades our skills and abilities, helps to reach the maximum level of excellence, guides us to expand the horizon of knowledge and keeps us usefully occupied. We should read all types of books but not the ones which are beyond our knowledge. Our mind is like a wet cement, whatever falls on it makes an impression forever. So we should not read those books that will leave a bad impression in our minds forever.
