SCHOOL TIMES : Impact of strikes on education
In Nepal strikes have been the means of solving problems for quite sometime, especially during the conflict. However, it has been about two years that co-operation was seen between the two parties involved in the conflict. But there still are many strikes going on in our country. There seems to be a misunderstanding among all
the people involved in different sectors that the only way of solving their problems is going on strikes, protesting and demonstrating by burning tyre and disturbing peace. Nobody is thinking about the adverse effects it will have on the lives of the people, both rich and poor.
These strikes have touched the educational sector too. Strikes in educational sectors have various negative effects, it decreases the quality of education as the courses are not completed properly. Teachers of secondary level have to finish all the courses no matter what. So, having less time due to the strikes and bandhas, they try to finish the courses very quickly, which directly affects the students. They are not able to understand the chapters clearly and it becomes a matter of parrot-reading and just passing the exams. They are not able to develop their mind and will not be able to become skilled and efficient future leaders of the country. These are the negative effects of strikes in the educational sector. So, strikes in educational sectors should be ended forever.
