Service through art

KATHMANDU:

Students of Ganesh Bharati School, Kavre have something to cheer about. After

having replaced its rain-damaged roof, the school will receive an additional donation worth Rs 25,000 through the Rotary Club of Kupondole (RCK) to maintain and build infrastructure, and buy more sports equipment for the students.

The amount was handed over by artist Sandhya Maharjan to RCK out of 50 per cent of the sales of her paintings from her first solo exhibition held in September in the Capital.

“I am very happy to serve society through art. It is a novel experience for me,” shared Maharjan, who has been painting for the last 15 years.

President of Rotary Club of Kupondole, Sujeev Shakya, too looked quite joyous at the efforts of the club’s family members.

“This is for the first time we are contributing to society through art,” Shakya said.
