KATHMANDU:

Nepali documentary Team Nepal has bagged the ‘Mention d Honneur’ at the ‘Milan International Fiction Film Festival’ held in Italy recently. The award was given to film director Girish Giri by the chairman of the organising committee, Prof Franco B Askani.

Team Nepal contested with best four documentaries for the award at the six-day film event in which 195 feature films, miniature films and documentaries were shown. ‘Guirlande de Honneur, the best award of the event was given to Sciagurata Muxar of Italy.

The event has six categories including sports documentaries, cinema, animation, advertisements. The next such film festival will be held in Mumbai in March next year , according to Giri.

Team Nepal was the only Nepali documentary screened at the recently concluded Film South Asia 2005 held in Kathmandu.
