Smith plans hiatus to ‘find new love’

LONDON: English singer Sam Smith has decided to step away from the spotlight and take a well deserved break.

The 23-year-old British singer-songwriter said it’s time for him to go home and find new love before he puts out his sophomore album sometime in the future.

“I am sad, but also it feels right,” Smith said. “I’ve been going now for three years non stop and it feels right for me to just go home and just live my life and be a 23-year-old. My love life, the downs and ups, it never stops, so I’m always inspired by stuff like that, but it’d be good to spend some time dating.”

Smith, however, didn’t say when exactly his planned hiatus would start. For now, he’s preparing himself for an upcoming performance with Disclosure on Saturday Night Live.

He’s also expected to make appearances at some awards events next year as his Spectre song Writing’s on the Wall is currently in contention to be nominated at the 2016 Golden Globes and Academy Awards.
