Stars

Star shines in the sky

Always at night.

Stars are bright and

beautiful

Always in the sky.

Stars are so big

Like the ships.

Hide-and-seek :

Huge clouds attacked him one Saturday

He disappeared days and days long

Making all creatures sad and grey So one day they all began to pray.

Trees prayed with tears falling off their leaves

Petals of daisies and sunflowers peeped out

Birds chirped and chirped to call him out

But he did not come for another week.

But they did not stop, and continued to pray

Bees continued to hum

Trees continued to cry

Pigeons and sparrows continued to chirp.

Each particle of soil was filled with sorrow

When one Friday dawn

Struggling with its pale haze to strike the earth’s surface

Out came the sun,

bringing smile on each creature’s face.

— Kriti Pokharel, Class IX, Shuvatara School,

Kathmandu.

Shot down :

On a sunny day

Up in the sky

I saw a bird

Flying and soaring high.

Suddenly it was hit

It chirped in pain

And fell to n the ground

With a wound on its head.

I walked towards the bird

A bulky object came in my way. It tucked the bird

under its arm

And ran away.

I could see the bird

Bleeding excessively

Tears came to my eyes

And I wept bitterly.
