Students’ voices

KATHMANDU:

While the nation was caught deep in a sea of turbulence, the students of Lincoln school weren’t just looking at what was unfolding as indifferent spectators.

The nineteen days of curfew and protests in Kathmandu, etched an ugly picture and a concern for those crying outside their walls. Amidst a function organised by the Lincoln School at Indigo Gallery on May 28, the students of Grade 3 shared their experiences of ‘Jana Andolan 2’ through their poetry and artwork. The students came from countries ranging from Israel, Denmark, Pakistan, India, US and Nepal.

James Giambrone’s photographs of street scenes during the movement staged gave an apt context and backdrop to the students’ voices. — HNS
