Sunsilk Fashion Week : Flower power
KATHMANDU:
Life’s got to have some fashion or it gets boring. Sunsilk Nepal Fashion Week, from August 10-14, is the answer to all the fashion-conscious here.
This duo has some fancy numbers up their sleeve. Their ‘Colours of the Wild’ will feature some fantastical creations showcasing their prowess as costume designers. The designs will be horrific, vampirish, Gothic... everything that’s out of the ordinary, promise the designers.
With ‘Hothouse Flowers’, they plan to take us back to the 60’s and blast us with floral prints in denim, ‘old type’ georgette and chiffon.
‘The Man who Sold the World’ is inspired by none other than Che Gueverra and they say is apt in this “loktantric situation”. The collection will be on the combat lines comprising skirts, shorts in greens and khaki and will make ample use of Che’s images.
Collections’ USP: “We believe in creating something new and giving a new taste to our designs. All three lines are as different from each other as can be. Come see our talent,” say Saurav Acharya and Kishor Raut, who love Giorgio Armani and Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel).
Pot pourri :
Well, theirs is a ‘Mixed Bag’ of gowns, kurtas and skirts in cotton, georgette, raw silk, sating and net. Done in pink, white, sea blue and black, they’ve made use of compact patchwork and promise that their collection is fit for the summer and very wearable.
Collection’s USP: “We’ve some great kurtas in checks,” say Kashish Bhusal, Kabita Swar, Laxmi Thapa and Krishna Devi Maharjan.
Pick me up :
‘Terra meso’ or pick me up in Italian — that’s their line in lycra, jeans, net, georgette and bamboo cotton. What’s different is this line also has men’s wear along with evening gowns. They say they’ve done a lot of experimentations with mixing and matching fabrics and designs, like for example net with lycra, or jeans with sequin work.
Collection’s USP: “We’ve got some great suits for guys and have used combinations of a
number of fabrics to give our dresses a whole new look,” say Parinda Shrestha, Sanny Shrestha and Manisha KC.
