Director: McG
Showing at Jai NepalKATHMANDU: It’s post apocalyptic 2018 and the humans and machines are at the brink of war. Pockets of human resistance are scattered all over the world and the man leading the human resistance is John Connor (Christian Bale) who is believed to be the only hope for mankind. The command centre of human resistance comes to know that Skynet and its army of terminators are set to destroy mankind within a week. So they gear up to face the final onslaught of Skynet.
In the hit list of Skynet, John’s name is in the second while the first is of a civilian named Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin). Kyle is the one who will save John’s mother so that John survives to save mankind from the machines. Thus John has to save Kyle, who has been captured by Skynet. For this rescue mission he has to enter the headquarter of Skynet and the only person who can help is a stranger named Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington). But trusting Marcus is not easy, as John doesn’t know if he has been sent from the future or rescued from the past. Further John has to go against his seniors and friends to rescue Kyle and stop the annihilation of human race.
The movie is not just about exciting fight sequences and exceptional set up for the director also has a story to tell, which very much relates to the whole series. Terminator 2: Judgement Day is the most successful instalment of Terminator series and the story of this movie very much links to the second instalment. You get to witness the war for which both the machines and humans have been preparing for. The correlations are also present in terms of dialogue — when John Connor repeats the
famous “I will be back”— and also in some scenes of the climax fight sequence.
Another reason why every Terminator fan should not miss Terminator Salvation is you get to see a grown up John Connor doing what he was rescued for — to fight against the machines. And Christian Bale doesn’t disappoint for he fits the role of this charismatic soldier to the t. Sam Worthington has done justice to the role of a man who finds himself in the unknown future.
In such futuristic movies the set up, special effects and creation of the futuristic gadgets/machines is the crux and Terminator Salvation lives up to the mark. Some machines take you by surprise with their amazing capabilities. This time the humans are better equipped for the combat making the whole face-off even more interesting.
A must watch for Terminator fans.
