THE WORLD THIS WEEK: 2007 to be ‘hottest’ year ever

Get your fans and ice-lollies at the ready — it looks like 2007 is going to be the hottest year on record. Weather experts say this year will be a scorcher for two reasons — greenhouse gasses and El Nino. We are releasing more gasses like carbon dioxide, which trap heat in the atmosphere, making temperatures soar. El Nino is caused by warmer than usual water in the Pacific Ocean, and causes unusually hot weather. Experts say one is already forming. The year 1998 was the hottest year ever for the whole year.
