THE WORLD THIS WEEK: Are they planets, or stars? Scientists puzzled

A pair of strange new worlds located 400 million light years from Earth has got scientists scratching their heads. They are a cross between planets and stars and they were spotted by scientists using a very powerful telescope in Chile. “Their mere existence is a surprise, and their origin and fate a bit of a mystery,” said one of the scientists. They’ve been named Oph1622. They circle around each other and it’s thought they formed when a gas cloud got too cold. The biggest one is 14 times larger than Jupiter and twice the size of its twin. It’s tho-ught they were formed about a million years ago. “Recent disc-overies have revealed an amazing diversity of worlds out th-ere,” said the scientist. “Still, the Oph1622 pair stands out as one of the most intriguing.”
