It was no mean feet for boys at a Birmingham school when they tried to beat a world record for the longest washing line of socks. The kids used more than 28,000 socks and 24,500 pegs for the attempt at King Edward’s School, which also raised money for charity. And after working their socks off the pupils managed to pass the previous record of 1,298 metres. Their record bid will be now be checked by Guinness Book of Records experts. The socks were donated from factories around the UK.
