THE WORLD THIS WEEK : Shuttlers take 2nd spacewalk

Astronauts from the shuttle Discovery are making a second spacewalk outside the International Space Station. Soichi Noguchi and Steve Robinson began the work, known as extravehicular activity, on the ISS at 10.40am. They’re replacing one of the gyroscopes which keep the station in the right place as it orbits Earth. Nasa is deciding whether to send a team to repair minor damage to the bottom of the shuttle that could cause trouble when it re-enters Earth’s atmosphere making the tiles get too hot during re-entry. — AP
