THE WORLD THIS WEEK: Television sets for your dolls

A working miniature TV has been created for a whole new audience — characters who live in dolls’ houses. The tellys have a teeny, tiny 5 cm-wide screen, but can still be used to watch DVDs and the CBBC channel or even to plug in and play on your games console. Brett Foster buys the tichy tellys from China and customises them in his garden shed in the Midlands, but you need a full-size remote control to work them. They’re mainly aimed at grown-up collectors. Brett said, “It’s designed for people who make a modern dolls’ house, so they can have a working TV in there.”
