THE WORLD THIS WEEK: World’s highest building taking shape

A record-breaking skyscraper is taking shape in the Middle Eastern city of Dubai. The 141-storey building — called the Burj Dubai — is 512 metres high, making it the world’s tallest, according to the people who made it. What’s more, it’s not finished and could eventually soar to 693 metres. The record for the tallest building is currently held by the 508 metre Taipei 101 in Taiwan. Checks will now be made to see if the Dubai tower tops it.
