Thousands throng Tundikhel on last day of year
KATHMANDU: If the number crunchers want to get street smart and earn that extra lucre, here’s what Mero Mobile suggests: Find out what’s most popular among the youth! Looking back at the number of audience turning out for the concerts and its brisk business, musicians apparently have become the best brand ambassadors.
Making use of this advertising parlance, Mero Mobile marking the 35th birthday of Crown Prince Paras and the New Year’s Eve staged a live concert by Nepal’s most popular bands at Tudikhel on December 31.
The concert which started in the early after saw a 7,000-strong audience.
While the performances began with The Angels, Dj Rajex took over for a warm-up DJ session. Next to follow was Madzone, who enthralled the crowd with their hip-hop numbers followed by NEPSDAZ, Dr Pilot, Ciney Gurung, Nirnaya NSK, Mausami Gurung, Preeti Kaur, Sugam Pokhrel, Karma Band and Sabin Rai.
Tundikhel was teeming with people of all hues and the dust that was raised because of all the stomping and jumping to the singers’ numbers did not seem to bother the crowd a bit.
The haze created was all forgotten in the warm afternoon sun on a winter day and an opportunity to listen to one’s favourite singers and bands.
