KATHMANDU: The nominees of 9th Annual Tuborg Image Awards were announced at the press conference on April 20.

President of Image Channel Pvt Ltd, RK Manandhar, said, “When we started, people thought it was a music channel as lots of music videos were telecast. But in a way it helped us in making a niche for our channel. Now we think it is our duty to do something for our music industry, hence we’ve started the Image Awards.”

This year’s awards has 25 categories with five nominees in each. Along with other popular categories, focus has been given to regional language songs. Awards will also be given to Newari, Maithali and Tamang language songs.

A total of 27 music companies, nine music videos companies, 62 albums and 88 songs are participating in the competition.

The results will be decided by both popular and jury votes. The public can cast their votes for their favourites via the radio, print and SMS facilities. The jury’s duty will be to look at the technical aspects.

Citing the country’s situation, the organisers have not finalised the date of the awards and only informed that it will be held in the last week of May.
