KATHMANDU:

The Standard Chartered Walkathon 2007, a major fund raising annual event of Standard Chartered Nepal, is being held on November 17. Although the event was previously scheduled for September 29, the walkathon could not be held due to poor the weather condition.

The walkathon, which will start from the bank’s head office in New Baneshwor, will end at the Lazimpat branch. Participated by both the staff and the stakeholders of the bank, it will cover around 5 km for which the route has already been defined.

The fund raised from this event will be contributed to community initiatives of the organisation. The two major initiatives are ‘Seeing is believing’ where financial support is provided for the cataract operation of needy people, and ‘Living with HIV’ wh-ere awareness workshops is organised to educate, people from different areas, about the disease.
