KATHMANDU, AUGUST 19

The remaining doses of AstraZeneca vaccine pledged by Japan for Nepal through COVAX facility are expected to arrive in Kathmandu on August 21 and 23.

Half of approximately 1.6 million doses were delivered on August 7 and 8 and used in the ongoing vaccination campaign.

According to the Embassy of Japan to Nepal, Japan will donate a total of 1,614,740 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Nepal.

Ambassador Kikuta Yutaka said, "The vaccine donation is a symbol of friendship between Japan and Nepal. Japan is a country which keeps her word, and I am pleased to inform that Japan will actually provide more than the pledged 1.6 million doses of vaccine by the end of August. We deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of all the related organisations in the international community."
