1 killed, 8 injured in Bhaktapur microbus-taxi collision

KATHMANDU: A person died and eight others were injured in a microbus-taxi collision at Gatthaghar in Bhaktapur on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as taxi driver Dinesh KC (33) of Bhimeshwor-3, Dolakha.

Police said that the microbus (Ba 1 Ja 9536) collided head-on with the taxi (Ba 2 Ja 1547) at around 11:30 pm yesterday.

The injured have been identified as Dinesh Karki of Balkot, Sabed Tamang of Naikap, Roshan Shrestha of Ramkot, Bipin Giri of Dahachok, Maheshwor Karki and  Ashadeep Singh of Kupondole, Raj Shrestha of Manmaiju and Ramesh Shrestha of Lokanthali.

All the injured are being treated at the Nagarik Hospital.

Meanwhile, police are searching for the absconding microbus driver who fled the scene after the incident.
