KATHMANDU: Eleven gamblers including a gambling-parlour operator have been arrested during a raid at rented house of Gajendra Thebe (53), hailing from Thumbeni- 4 of Taplejung, at Sifal in the capital on Friday evening.

A special squad dispatched from Metropolitan Police Sector, Gaushala had raided the house while they were gambling. Among the arrested are Singha Bahadur Chemjong (47) from Dharampur VDC- 8 of Jhapa, Krishna Subba (37) from Chulachuli- 1 of IIlam and the gambling-parlour operator.

The police have also seized a set of dices, six books of playing cards, 18 pieces of plastics coin and a sum of Rs 50,400 put up as a stakes in gambling.

The police have launched investigation into the case to track down gambling networks in the Valley. Earlier, the police had arrested 17 gamblers at Khusibu.
