12 tonne solid waste collected from Bagmati, Bishnumati

KATHMANDU: As much as 12 tonne solid waste was collected as different campaigns to clean-up Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers continued in the Kathmandu Valley, on Saturday.

The campaigners collected 6 metric tonne waste from the Bagmati River and its surrounding in Teku area of the Capital today.

Official from the Bagmati Civilisation Integrated Development Committee, Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police, Kathmandu Metropolitan City and other civil society organisations took place in the campaign today, according to a member of the Committee Narayan Shrestha.

Likewise, the Bagmati-Bishnumati confluence in Teku was also cleaned up today and six tonne garbage was collected, according to a campaigner Anil Dharel.

Also today, the Rudramati River was cleaned up in Ratopul area today, and 275 saplings of various species of trees were planted, member of the Rudramati Sarokar Samaj Rohit Giri said.
