1200 centres to be set up for SLC

Kathmandu, March 13:

The Office of the Controller of Examination (OCE), Sanothimi, is setting up 200 new SLC examination centres throughout the country. With this, students will take their tests in 1200

SLC centres across the country from April 4.

According to OCE, Sanothimi, the District Examination Co-ordination Committee (DECC) under the co-ordination of Chief District Officer have recommended to expand the centers even in the remote areas after having discussions with the community stakeholders.

An official at OCE requesting anonymity, said, there will be around 1200 SLC centres, however, the exact numbers will be made public in next few days.

This year some 368,000 students are appearing for the School Level Certificate examination.

This number is 20,000 more that last year’s. New examination centres will be set up in remote areas as recommended by student bodies.

Earlier on February 25, the pro-Maoist student body and the OCE had reached an agreement that all District Examination Co-ordination Committee (DECC) will fix the centres after discussing the matter with the concerned stakeholders by March 2. “There was a delay in announcement of the examination due to some problems in Tarai,” said an official at OCE.

He also said that all the necessary documents related with the examination would be sent to the district in one and half week.
