2 held with shaligram, antique bottles

BHAKTAPUR: Police arrested two persons in possession of a shaligram and two antique bottles from Bhaktapur on Monday.

Shaligram, fossilised shell found only in the Kaligandaki River in Nepal, holds religious significance in Hinduism. It weighed 50 gram, police said.

Likewise, the antique artifacts are empty bottles of alcohol used by the British soldiers in the World War I, according to police.

The suspects, aged 19 and 20, are said to be residents of Kavrepalanchok district.

Police said that the duo, who were riding on a bike (Ba 73 Pa 6926), were nabbed with the artifacts during a regular security check at Jagati in Suryabinayak Municipality-7.

Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
