2 held for swindling woman
KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday said they arrested two people for swindling a woman, from Teku.
The suspects have been identified as Ganesh Adhikari (25) of Sindhuli, currently residing at Putalisadak and Dipak Kumar Sah (26) of Mahottari, presently living at Teku.
According to police, Adhikari, posing himself as a staffer of the World Wide Consultancy, had assured Bimala Pant of Nagarjun to pass her daughter in the entrance exam of MBBS under the Kathmandu University.
For which, he had demanded Rs 200,000, police said.
However, Pant later realised that she was being cheated and reported to the Metropolitan Police Crime Division on September 28 seeking help.
Adhikari was arrested by a police team in civvies while receiving a cheque of Rs 200,000 on Wednesday itself. The police had reached the Consultancy with Pant to arrest him red-handed.
Police said that they have also arrested Consultancy operator Deepak Kumar Sah for his involvement, based on Adhikari’s statement.
The duo have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Sah used to swindle people posing himself as a doctor in the past as well.
