KATHMANDU: Police arrested two youth with five live tortoises from Lagankhel of Lalitpur on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Saheb Mahato (27) of Umjan-8, Bara and Arjun Sah (28) of Dewad-1, Mahottari for trading the endangered animal.

Police said they have sent the arrestees to the Lalitpur District Forest Office, Hattiban, for further investigations.

The rare species have been sent to Central Zoo, Jawalakhel, for conservation.
