KATHMANDU: Two Indian nationals were burnt alive when a fire gutted a furniture industry in Lalitipur district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Ajay Sharma, 24 and Abhinis Sharma, 15 of Sitamadi of India, the Imodole Police said.

They were engulfed in flames when they attempted to salvage their belongings when the blaze started in Sharma Furniture Industry belonging to Rabindra Sharma at Imadole-8, police said, adding that the charred bodies were found at the site of the incident.

Locals, police and fire engines doused the fire that broke out at 1:45 am after four hours of battling the blaze this morning.

Short circuit was the cause of the fire, police said, adding that the fire also gutted an adjoining house.
