2 road accidents reported in Capital

KATHMANDU: Police said that two road accidents were reported in the Capital on Wednesday and Thursday.

An elderly man, who was critically injured after a water tanker hit him at Bankali, KMC-9 on Thrusday morning, breathed his last while being rushed to the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH).

The identity of the deceased who appeared to be in his mid 60s is yet to be established, police informed.

Police said that the tanker (Na 2 Kha 7079) driver fled the scene after the incident.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the tanker for investigation.

Similarly, a biker died and pillion rider sustained critical injuries after a bike they were riding on hit an electric pole near Kitni of Godawari Municipality-6 on Wednesday night.

Seriously injured biker Karan Subba (22) of Nahar, Godawari Municipality-5 and pillion rider Suman Bhujel (20) of Sunsari and currently residing at Lalitpur were rushed to the Patan Hospital, Lalitpur but Subba breathed his last during the course of treatment this morning.

Bhujel has been taken to the Annapurna Neuro Hospital for further treatment, police informed.

Police said that they are looking into both cases.
