Six held for fuel black-marketing from Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Crime Division said it has arrested six persons on charge of smuggling in petroleum products and selling in the black-market from different places of Kathmandu.

A huge amount of fuel was seized from their possession.

The MPCD said four persons were arrested in possession of 1650 litre petrol, 1135 litre diesel and 115 litre kerosne from New Bus Park, Gongabu area of Kathmandu today. The suspects have been identified as Lal Bahadur Shrestha of Khadgabhanjyang, Nuwakot; Janak Mahat of Madhauliya, Rautahat; Chandra Bahadur Shrestha of Ektappa, Ilam; and Kamal Chaudhary of Gola, Bardiya.

Likewise, Suresh Neupane of Arughat, Dhading, was arrested from Tilganga in possession of 1000 litre petrol, 750 litre diesel and 15 litre kerosene on Friday.

Likewise, Kamal Tamang of Baldefedi Che, Kavre, was arrested from Bouddha in possession of 550 litre petrol and 100 litre kerosene.

The MPCD handed over them to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further action. They will face charges as per the Black Market and Some Other Social Offences Punishment Act.
