24 disabled protesters held, freed

Kathmandu, July 21:

At least 24 disabled protesters were arrested from the south gate of Singha Durbar today when they were trying to take a protest rally inside the Singha Durbar.

Seven disableds were injured in a clash with the police. The arrested were taken to the Koteshwor Police Office and Mahendra Police Club. They were, however, released later.

The disableds continued their demonstrations for the fourth day today demanding representation in the Interim Constitution Drafting Committee. According to Birendra Raj Pokharel, the president of the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal (NFDN), a seven-member team of disableds from various organisations today met deputy Prime Minister Amik Sherchan and apprised him of their concerns.
