3-day Pashupati festival starts from Friday
Kathmandu, October 15:
Pashupati Area Development Trust is all set to organise Pashupati festival for three days from October 17-19.
Speaking at a press conference organised by Pashupati Festival-2065 organising committee today, Minister for Culture Gopal Kirati said the festival would help stabilise peace in the new context. “The festival would be a key to establish peace in new Nepal,” he said, adding that the festival should be taken as a national event.
Yadav Chandra Sharma, coordinator of organising committee, said the festival was going to be celebrated with the objective of promoting religious tourism in the country.
“The festival will showcase cultural diversity of the nation as well as help preserve the Jatras and festivals of Pashuapti area,” he said.
The committee has planned to spend around Rs 10 million, donated by PADT, Nepal Manav Dharma Sewa Samiti and other donors, to make the event a success.
Around 400,000 visitors from across the country and other neighbouring countries are expected to visit the country. The festival will also see cultural presentation from Himalaya, Hilly and Tarai regions.
