3 killed in separate road accidents

KATHMANDU: A youth died on the spot when a commuter bus (Na 2 Kha 55) belonging to Araniko Yatayat ran over him in Baneshwor on Saturday morning. The youth was riding a motorcycle (Ba 36 Pa 9688).

The bus reportedly ran him down from behind. Metropolitan Traffic Police Division identified the deceased as Narendra Rai (26), hailing from Damak, Jhapa. The body was sent to the TU Teaching Hospital to perform an autopsy. The ill-fated bus was impounded and handed over to Metropolitan Police Circle, Baneshwor, for further investigation.

Earlier on Friday, Patal Hajare Paswan (45) met with a similar fate when a tripper (Na 4 Kha 1380) knocked him down at Kapan. Pawan, who hailed from Bara of Kalaiya, who was physically challenged, died on the spot.

The irate mob had set ablaze the vehicle. The police said the driver is absconding.

Meanwhile, Santa Bahadur Tamang (26), a local of Lamatar, Kathmandu, succumbed to life-threatening injury after being hit by a commuter bus (Ba 2 Kha 1024) in Gwarko on Friday. He was undergoing treatment at the B&B Hospital. The Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, has impounded the bus. The driver is said to be absconding.
