3,130 indicted for violating traffic rules
KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) indicted 3,130 drivers on charge of violating traffic rules in the Kathmandu Valley in the past week.
The crime committed ranges from drunken-driving, overloading the vehicles with passengers to crossing in red lights, said DIG Binod Singh, in-charge of MTPD.
He informed that
hundreds of traffic cops were mobilised to keep a vigil
over the drivers and to ensure that they strictly follow road safety regulations.
Similarly, the traffic police manning the major intersections in the Valley have impounded 1,436 driving licences, 817 blue books, 563 road permits and three vehicles for further investigation.
Under the existing law, the traffic police could impose fine on the law-breakers ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 5,000, depending on the nature of offenses.
There are 28 traffic outlets in the Valley which keep an eye on vehicular movements.
MTPD has directed the traffic personnel to book the wrongdoers on the spot.

from Narcotic Drug
Control and Law Enforcement Unit (NDCLEU) in New Baneshwor on Friday arrested five persons for possessing heroin.
The law enforcement officials had managed
to seize 666 grams of heroin at Mila’s Beauty Parlour in Chabahil, acting on a tip off.
The arrested have been identified as Ek Narayan Poudel “Mukti” (27), Narayan Shrestha (27) and Arun Shrestha (22), all hailing from Agrauli Village Development Committee- 7 of Nawalparasi.
Also arrested in connection with drug trafficking were Man Bahadur Karki (38) from Danda Gaun-2 of Dhankuta and a beauty parlour operator Mila Bhandari (27) from Chabahil. Police have initiated a probe into the case.
