KATHMANDU: At least 44 persons sustained injuries as a bus carrying wedding attendants fell around 40 feet down the road in Jitpur, Nagarkot-5 of Bhaktapur on Thursday.*

The accident took place at around 12 pm today, according to police.

Of the injured, 21 have been taken to the Madhyapur Hospital, Thimi while 18 to the Bhaktapur Hospital, Bhakatapur.

Two of the injured have been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment.

The bus (Ba 4 Kha 1905) was coming to Koteshwor of Kathmandu from Nagarkot of Bhaktapur, according to Police Inspector Kamal Kumar Baduwal.

Meanwhile, the driver who fled the scene after the incident was detained by a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Jagati.
