4 held for assaulting on-duty policemen

KATHMANDU: Police arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in assaulting on-duty police personnel near the Himalayan Bank in Thamel on Monday.

The suspects have been identified as Bishal Lama (25) of Tasarpu-8, Dhading, Resham Bahadur Rana (34) of Gorkha, Rajesh Dawadi (24) and Devkota (25) of Mangalpur-9, Chitwan and Amrit.

They assaulted the on-duty police personnel stationed at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbarmarg and deputed at Thamel under the influence of alcohol last night, police said.

Police said that taxi (Ba 1 Ja 2120) driver Ram Bahadur Tamang of Ghelung-8 of Dolakha was also injured in the incident while he tried to save the police personnel.

The injured have returned home after receiving treatment at the Bir Hospital, police informed.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
