4 held for trafficking 27 Nepali women to Delhi

KATHMANDU: Police said they recently arrested four persons on charge of trafficking 27 young Nepali women to New Delhi of India.

Sujil Rai aka Sushil (38) of Temma-2 in Khotang district, Raj Babu Shrestha (43) of Ram Nagar-1 in Mahottari district, Ishwor Neupane aka Dayaram Pnadit (32) of Barhabise-2 and Bishnu Tamang (27) of Gumba-6 in Sindhupalchok district were arrested for trafficking women to the Indian capital with a promise of employment with handsome salaries in the Gulf.

While Neupane and Tamang were arrested from New Delhi on July 25, Shrestha was arrested from Sankarapur of Sarlahi district on August 19.

Rai was arrested from Gundu of Bhaktapur on August 11.

Indian Police had rescued 27 Nepali women from the Indira Gandhi International Airport and various hotels of New Delhi on July 21 and 25.

The women were brought to Nepal on August 4 and now have been handed over to their kin.

Police claimed that the alleged traffickers had assured the women of good-earning jobs in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Kurdistan.

Police have filed a human trafficking case against the arrestees and are further investigating into the case.
