4 major political forces hold discussion on budget programme

KATHMANDU: Four major political forces on Wednesday held discussion regarding annual budget programme of the fiscal year 2015/016.

At a meeting held at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar, the four major forces discussed on bringing the budget on consensus of all the political parties and the issues to be incorporated in it.

The meeting was focused on bringing the budget to be acceptable to all at a time when the new constitution is to be promulgated by the end of July and a national unity government is to be formed soon after the promulgation of the new constitution.

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli said that the meeting was centered on the issues to be incorporated in the budget at a time when the government is presenting the Policy and programme at Legislature-parliament today.

Minister for Finance, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, briefed the meeting about the preparation of the budget. A taskforce comprising former Finance Ministers of major political parties has been supporting the Finance Minister for the budget programme.

After the meeting, Minister Mahat told media persons that they held discussion regarding the preparation made so far for the budget programme.

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chairman Oli, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, former finance ministers-- Surendra Pandey and Barshaman Pun among others were present on the occasion.

An understanding has been reached to hold discussion regarding budget again and bringing the budget programme at consensus of all.

The Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist have formed their respective taskforce to help Finance Minister for the budget programme.
