4 nabbed for extorting money in guise of policemen

KATHMANDU: Sleuths deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) on Sunday apprehended four persons for their alleged involvement in extorting people in guise of policemen, from various parts of the Capital.

The suspects have been identified as Top Bahadur Kunwar (55) aka Deepak of Guwadi-8, Gulmi, currently living at Bagbazaar, Govinda Chaulagain (40) of Chauri-3 of Kavre, presently residing at Gongabu, Nim Bahadur Kunwar (50) of Bijuli-9, Pyuthan, currently living at Bagbazaar, Sunil Chaudhary (28) of Biratnagar-6, Morang, presently living at Kirtipur.

Police said that they have been carrying out raids at various liquor and food stores in Kalanki, Baneshwor, Samakhusi and Thamel among other places in guise of policemen and have been extorting money.

Police said that they swung into action acting on a tip-off.
